Our last stop, Harvest Caye in Belize, is a private island paradise with crystal-clear waters and a 7-acre beach. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind before we head back to Tampa. 🏖️

Skipper’s Tips & Tricks
As your trusty cruise duck guide, I’m here to share some insider tips to enhance your cruising experience. This week, I’ve got some secrets from Norwegian Cruise Line that you might find useful. |
Pay Ahead of Time: Prepay and preplan as much as you can before the cruise. This way you are more relaxed while on the cruise and not stressed about extra expenses. 💡
Bring a Reusable Water Bottle: NCL does not allow you to bring cases of water onboard and purchasing water quickly adds up if you like water as much as Skipper does! We recommend bringing a refillable water bottle to use at night and when going on shore and exploring (Click here to check out Skipper’s Recommendation on Amazon: https://amzn.to/46z6R9o) 🥤
Free shampoo: There’s a dispenser with free shampoo and body wash in the shower. 🚿
Turn off cellular data: Make sure your phone is in “Airplane Mode” or cellular data is turned off to avoid roaming charges. 📱
Don’t lose your keycard: Purchase lanyards for your kids’ key cards. You can also ask to have charging abilities removed from the kids’ cards. (Click here to check out Skipper’s Recommendation on Amazon: https://amzn.to/48IvFNX) 🔑
Early Bird Gets the Worm: The early bird gets the worm, or in this case, the best deck chairs. If you want a prime spot by the pool, make sure to get there early. 🌞
Specialty Dining: Make reservations for specialty dining as soon as you can. These spots fill up quickly! (Typically, the earliest is at 119 days away from sailing)🍽️
Room Service: Take advantage of the room service available on all NCL ships. It's perfect for those early-morning coffees or late-night cravings. 🌛
Pack a Power Adapter: Outlets in cruise ship cabins can be scarce. Pack a power adapter to charge all your devices! (Click here to check out Skipper’s Recommendation on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3LTZW2O) 🔋
Use the Norwegian Mobile App: NCL has a mobile app that you can use onboard. It's a great way to keep track of daily activities, make reservations, access your internet, and more. 📲
🎉 Quiz Time! ~

For those seeking a bit of adrenaline rush, the Breakaway features an aqua park that boasts five thrilling slides. If you're up for a challenge, test your balance and agility on the ropes course. And for a more laid-back activity, you can enjoy a round of mini-golf with the ocean as your backdrop.
When it comes to accommodations, the Breakaway offers a variety of staterooms to cater to different passenger needs. Solo travelers can enjoy the cozy and innovative Studios. Families can opt for the spacious Family Mini-Suites. Those seeking a wellness experience can choose the Spa Staterooms, which come with complimentary access to the Thermal Spa Suite.

You Asked, Skipper Answers
One of our readers, Sarah L. from Florida, asked a great question this week: “How do cruise ships get their water?” Here’s the answer:
1. Desalination: Many modern cruise ships have onboard desalination systems that use a process called reverse osmosis to remove salt and other impurities from seawater, making it safe to drink and use. 🌊
2. Dockside Delivery: When a cruise ship is in port, it can connect to the local water supply and fill its tanks. This water is typically treated onboard to ensure it’s safe to use. 🚰
3. Bottled Water: For drinking, many cruise ships also provide bottled water, which is either loaded onboard while in port or produced onboard from desalinated and further treated water. 💧
